The Athletic’s George Caulkin delivered an interesting Newcastle United takeover claim to supporters on Sunday afternoon.
He suggested that “documents have been moved around this weekend” and that there has been further communication between the Saudi buyers and the Premier League.
Are you confident the PL will approve the Saudi takeover before next season?
It’s been 13 weeks since the top-flight first received paperwork about the Magpies’ prospective takeover and we still appear to be some way off an official resolution.
It feels ridiculous, but we don’t know the intricacies & how it works. Documents have been moved around this weekend & there have been other bits of communication. What that leaves it, we’ll have to wait & see. I’m pretty sure the PL will feel the need to explain when it’s done.

What sort of impact this sort of information has still very much remains to be seen as there has been numerous ups and downs throughout this arduous process.
Last weekend, it was thought that the £300m deal had received a significant boost towards their approval chances after the Saudi kingdom pledged to clamp down on issues of piracy in the country – the very thing that was thought to be holding up the bid.
This was only meant to take a handful of weeks, but here we are, nearly in July still waiting to hear our fate.
