Newcastle United’s dire run of form continued last night as the Magpies suffered a third straight defeat in all competitions, meaning it’s just four wins from their last 18 in the Premier League.
At least there are only two games left to play – although, the takeover saga is by no means resolved, so it could be a rather long summer ahead.
Should Bruce be given a chance under the new regime?
Yes 100%!
No way!
The Premier League are still yet to come to a decision on their owners and directors test, leaving the northeast giants in limbo heading into the new transfer window and new campaign.
Plans just can’t be made and as a result, the Saudi consortium have effectively downed tools for the time being.
That’s according to The Athletic’s George Caulkin, who provided an update to one supporter on Twitter, he said:
They can’t do anything, can they? They had targets months ago – some have already moved on. They’re not being active because they don’t own the club.

They were fielding lots of agent calls & having conversations when the tests started. There’s a lot less of it now. Not because confidence has gone but because they can’t physically do anything until decision is made and some potential targets looking elsewhere.

He claims that the buyers – the Saudi public investment fund led by PCP Partners’ Amanda Staveley – were at one stage fielding calls from agents and having conversations about the near future when the tests first began.
But now there’s “a lot less” of that happening because they physically can’t do anything until the PL make that decision.
The transfer window opens in two weeks yet the club are none the wiser over who will be in charge going into the summer – at this rate, it appears as if a one-foot-out-the-door Mike Ashley will be running things.
It’s been a long and arduous four months so it’s time for Richard Masters to act on his words considering he wanted it concluded ‘shortly’ two weeks ago. We need that final outcome.
