As well as the awards celebrating the brilliant work done by the community, there were two former Magpies inducted into the Hall Of Fame. Former right-back John Beresford and former midfielder and assistant manager, Terry McDermott joined the likes of Alan Shearer and Kevin Keegan in the Hall Of Fame.

Beresford, who played under Keegan made 179 appearances for the Toon and was a key part of the “Entertainers” side which came close to glory in the 90s. While Terry McDermott was alongside Keegan in the dugout as an integral part of the backroom team.

Speaking at the event, Sean Longstaff, who is a long-time ambassador for the Foundation spoke of the project at Newcastle United and talked about how exciting the future is for the club. In an interview posted by SkySports, Longstaff said “The end goal is they’re want to going to get to the Champions League I think that’s where the club should be aiming. For us it’s about the here and now.”

It’s fantastic seeing the owners, players and community coming together under one roof. It’s a harmony that has been missing for so long, and long may it continue.
