Gosling may be able to sign as a free agent but Everton have launched an appeal which might see us having to pay some kind of compensation package.

The Under 21 interantional is valued at around £4m, and has had talks with West Ham, Bolton and the filth, although it looks as though he has opted for a move to Newcastle.

Gosling, 20, was on £8,000 a week at Everton who made him a verbal offer of a new £15,000 a week deal but, as they did not put the offer in writing before May 30, a Premier League inquiry ruled Gosling was free to leave without compensation.

If it comes off, Gosling would be a great addition to our squad, all of a sudden things arent looking so bad…
