We were reportedly interested in Bristol City`s Joe Bryan in January to provide competition for Paul Dummett, but the Sun are now reporting that Aston Villa are also keen on the 24 year old.
Everton have also been linked with the defender in recent months so it seems there could be a three way battle for the player in the summer, if that is we are still interested in the left back.
The Mirror reported back in January that the Robins would demand £7m to let him leave Ashton Gate. The Bristolian came through the youth ranks of the club, and has 221 appearances for his hometown, 132 of which have been in the Championship.
Whether he could cut it in the Premier League remains up for the debate. I`m sure Rafa and his scouting team have assessed their left backs options, and they obviously have seen something in Bryan.
We certainly need cover in that area, as Dummett`s absence earlier in the season demonstrated. It meant we had rely on a number of players like Manquillo and Mbemba playing out of position.
We will have to wait and see at the end of the season if this leads to a concrete bid for the Bristol man, or if we have already moved on to other targets.
