If the Spanish press is any better than the English then it looks like the cogs of Newcastle’s transfer business may finally creak into action this week.

That’s because Spain’s El Diario Vasco spoke of a couple of changes that would see Florian Lejeune move to Tyneside eventually.

The French centre back plays in Spain for Eibar but amidst reports from the press over here of links and us meeting an £8.75m release clause, there wasn’t much more to add.

The Spanish media though reckon that a hold up in a deal was the way in which the price was structured and that the La Liga side needed to get a replacement sorted out.

They reckon that the fee will now be paid in a lump sum rather than in dribs and drabs.

It’s also reported that Eibar have identified the player they want to replace Lejeune with and this should be rubber stamped at some point this week.

Lejeune who is 26 years old and from Paris would almost certainly take the place in the squad of Grant Hanley who has been linked with championship sides.
