Some Newcastle supporters have been reacting on social media, after The Sun claimed reported target Loris Benito had arrived in England ahead of his potential transfer to United.
The 27-year-old left-back has been plying his trade in the Swiss first tier with BSC Young Boys for the past four years, but has parted ways with the Stade de Suisse natives ahead of his contract expiring on June 30.
Benito had featured in 42 of his now-former side’s fixtures in the season just gone, including their shock 2-1 win over Juventus in the Champions League during the Group Stage. He also scored once and assisted six goals in the Super League on route to lifting the trophy with a 20-point advantage.
The 3-cap Switzerland international, who made his senior debut in November, has also been attracting interest from Watford and Burnley, along with Inter Milan and Bordeaux.
We, however, appear to have beat the quartet to his signature, as The Sun understand the £3.15million-rated 6ft defender could be on his way to Tyneside to hold final discussions over a proposed move, having flown into London at the start of the week.
