Newcastle fans will be wondering what to expect today as West Ham make the trip to St. James`s park.

Will it be the spirited, fighting Newcastle of last Sunday, or the pathetic capitulation of Wednesday night? It will be interesting to see if Roeder has managed to lift the team after the cup defeat.

Fortunately for us, Newcastle are facing a West Ham side who are woefully out of sorts. They just don’t seem to be able to do anything right and if it wasn’t for the events mid-week, most people would be expecting a Newcastle win, no questions asked.

Roeder will be desperate to put one over on his old club and after the abuse he received at Upton Park neither he, nor his players will need much motivation.

Vital Quotes:

Wednesday’s defeat has hurt the players badly and left them badly wounded.
‘We all know what a wounded animal does, it lashes out and that’s what we want our players to do.

‘The important thing is that our performance reflects what it means to wear the black and white shirt.’
