El Gol Digital is reporting that Ayoze Perez’s move to Real Betis is “imminent.”
The Spanish rumour mongers are not the most reliable source, and the reaction to the story has been met with a great deal of derision among fans.
Here is some of the reaction on Twitter:
Where do the Spanish press get the sources from ???? first it was merino leaving then Rafa was meant to be going to socidad and now Perez

I thought real madrid were keeping an eye on him the fact he's came from spanish second division to score in the english top flight i'd imagine they have two eyes on him

And. Done ok in this revival. Far too lightweight to be the main striker. Good grafter. But we need better for this league

Spain’s Gol Digital say Real Betis are looking for ‘the next big signing’ and have identified Newcastle United’s Ayoze Perez.
How much would Perez cost? £20 Millon?

El Gol reporter Fernando Jarama’s report isn’t actually purely about our no.17. The basis of the story is about Real Sociedad’s search for a new striker to help out Willian Jose (a reported past Newcastle target).
Betis forward Tonny Sanabria is the player they are supposed to be interested in, and the reporter is already making the assumption that Ayoze will be coming in to replace the Paraguayan.
No other Spanish publication is carrying the story that Perez will be making the switch back to Spain, so it’s best to treat the claim with a high amount of scepticism.
The striker has hit a rich vein of form in front of goal in recent weeks, with three goals and one assist in his last three Premier League outings.
