Newcastle Set To Make Move For 21-Year-Old Dutch International

|

The club are looking at signing Crystal Palace’s Jairo Riedewald before deadline day, according to the Times journalist Gary Jacob.

We are reportedly one of a number of clubs interested in the Dutch defender. The 21-year-old is a versatile player, having played at centre-back, left-back and as a holding midfield player during his career.

Rafa Benitez is said to be after two defenders before the transfer window closes. One target is believed to be Paris Saint-Germain’s Stanley N’Soki, while the other appears to be Riedewald.

The Dutchman was signed for £8m last summer by previous coach Frank de Boer but has fallen out of favour under current manager Roy Hodgson. He reportedly turned down a move to Championship side Swansea earlier this summer and is said to be keen on staying in the Premier League.

With the Chronicle reporting that Ajax’s Nicolas Tagliafico is out of our price range at £8m, we obviously believe Riedewald is available for a lower amount. Do you think we should sign the defender? Let me know in the poll:
