Newcastle United today revealed a teaser as to what is planned this weekend for the 125 year celebrations.
This is of course to coincide with the date where the coming together of Newcastle East End and West End needed a name change to try to take the club to the next level.
In a similar scenario now where we need a change to better us, we make do with the club planning events on the anniversary of the 9th December 1892 when we face Leicester at St James’ Park.
The tea time kick off gives plenty of time for those that want to, to tank up with a bit of extra drink ahead of what promises to be a great occasion.
Newcastle has said it is laying on flags on every seat with the anniversary logo on and this is to go with the usual flag display in the Gallowgate by the newly renamed ‘Wor Flags’ as well as a new regular display that starts this weekend by ‘Leazes Flags’
Leazes Flags main aim being to replicate what has been created in the Gallowgate as well as try to help increase the atmosphere in other parts of the ground.
With special things promised as well as the announcement of the vote of the greatest Newcastle XI, all eyes will be on which former employees turn up. Will we get an appearance from the likes of the constructively dismissed Kevin Keegan? Maybe Alan Shearer and surely someone like Sir John Hall. We’ll find out.
In what will be a memorable day, one thing that cant be overlooked is that we have a game to win and on doing so it could help lay the foundations of the club ahead of it’s next big anniversary. Let’s hope so.
