According to The Northern Echo, Newcastle’s search for a striker is gathering pace following the collapse of the Hugo Ekitike deal with the Toon now looking at Armando Broja of Chelsea.
While reports suggesting the Ekitike deal is “dead” may have been exaggerated, it’s safe to say that Eddie Howe isn’t waiting around for an answer that may never come and as a result, has turned his attention towards the Chelsea man who had an impressive season for Southampton on loan last term scoring nine goals for a lacklustre Saints.
Should We Move For Broja?YesNo |
The 20-year-old Albanian joined Chelsea in 2020 and was loaned out to Vitesse in the Netherlands where he bagged ten goals in 30 appearances. Broja has only made one appearance for Chelsea so far but is due back in training with the first-team for pre-season, however, it is believed that Thomas Tuchel will be willing to listen to offers for the striker who is valued at around £20m on Transfermarkt.
Once again it seems Newcastle will be competing with West Ham if an offer is to be made as both clubs are clearly fishing in the same pond this summer.
