Newcastle Linked With Not One But Two Big Name Strikers

|

Rumours are like buses, you wait forever for one and then two come along at once.

This morning, delving through the media vehicles at our disposal, we stumbled across the names of two strikers Newcastle have been linked with, both coming with high transfer fees.

The first, courtesy of the local media source, Chronicle, implies that Newcastle are interested in the Denmark striker, Nicolai Jorgensen.

Jorgensen, 27-years-of-age, is on the books of the Dutch club Feyenoord.

A polite enquiry, according to our referenced source, from Newcastle, saw a price  in excess of, £20 million for the player, mentioned.

The second, also courtesy of the Chronicle, infers that Newcastle are also linked with the Hoffenheim striker, Andrej Kramaric.

However, Kramaric would be, it would seem, a far more expensive acquisition.

The German clubs sporting director, Alexander Rosen, claims that his club have already rejected an offer of €30 million from an Italian club for their asset.

Furthermore, he goes on to remark about the situation to the media,

“I never rule anything out. We had an offer from Italy in the winter break amounting to €30 million.

“That was never an option for us, but what happens when we receive a €50m offer, I cannot say.”

Newcastle’s current club record when it comes to a transfer fee is the £16 million they paid Real Madrid for Michael Owen, back in 2005.

Clearly, if Newcastle do have serious intentions of adding a top-class striker to their squad then that record fee will have to be broken.

But, in the current financial climate the club appear to be operating under, can you see either Jorgensen or Kramaric coming to our club?

I certainly cannot, but please feel free to drop your views, on the subject matter in our comments facility beneath this article.
