Newcastle fans have been reacting on social media after FC Inter News linked United with a loan move for future star in the making Eddie Salcedo.
Salcedo is currently on loan with Inter Milan’s Under 18s from his academy side Genoa, but the San Siro natives hold an €8million (£7m) option to buy, which becomes active in June and are expected to exercise.
The teenage striker is attracting interest from France and England, though, as it has been noted that AS Monaco and we have reached out to the Italian outfit recently to sound out the chances of a temporary deal for next season.
Giuseppe Marotta, Inter Milan’s Chairman, is not planning on sending the 17-year-old out on loan, however, and will instead offer expected new boss Antonio Conte the chance to cast his judgment on the Italy youth international during the Nerazzurri’s upcoming pre-season schedule.
Following that, the pair will sit down and discuss if it is best for Salcedo to spend another year with the Primavera, or gain experience of professional football elsewhere.
With the Nerazzurri’s youth squad in the season just gone, Salcedo was involved in 16 goals in 33 games (13 scored, three assisted), and ranked eighth in the top ‘scorers chart for the Italian U19s division.
His efforts have even attracted Italy head coach Roberto Mancini to keep tabs on his progress as he evaluates who could represent the national side.
So when it was then shared on Twitter that we had contacted Inter and Salcedo’s agent, here’s how these Newcastle fans reacted…

Why would we loan a youth player? Not like he would seriously influence our first team!
