Newcastle United have made an approach to sign free-agent, Christian Eriksen, as reported by GIVEMESPORT.
However, it looks increasingly like Eriksen is set to choose between re-signing for Brentford or joining Erik Ten Hag’s Manchester United, which will come as a blow to Eddie Howe, and likely, a lot of Newcastle fans.
TalkSPORT reporter, Alex Crook spoke to GIVEMESPORT about Eriksen, saying: “There’s still a chance he could stay at Brentford, but I think he wants to play as high level as possible. I was told that Newcastle also made an offer. I think West Ham were at the table as well.
“Last I heard, United were confident, but ultimately it’s going to come down to Christian Eriksen.”
Assuming that by “United”, Cross was talking about Manchester in that last sentence, it doesn’t look good for Newcastle.
Eriksen would have been a quality addition to Newcastle’s ranks with his range of passing and incredible footballing brain. However, the central midfield is one area where Newcastle are already pretty solid so it’s not likely there’ll be many moves made for that position in the summer unless someone of outstanding quality becomes available …. like Christian Eriksen.
