Newcastle United are part of a Premier Leauge pursuit for Yussuf Poulsen, according to reports.

German outlet Sports Bild has stated that the Danish forward wants out from RB Leipzig in the summer, with the player submitting a transfer request after having to play a bit-part role this season.

It is said that he is meant to have a long list of teams wanting him, however, the report singles out Steve Bruce’s side as being ‘massively interested’.

Alongside the Magpies are Everton and West Ham, with it seeming as if England will be the destination for the forward this summer.

With Leipzig growing into a German force by challenging for the Bundesliga title and knocking out last year’s Champions League finalists Tottenham Hotspur in the round of 16.

Which manager is older?

Poulsen has been a key part of the team’s growth into what they are now, having played a whopping 248 games for the club, scoring 61 and assisting 49 in the process.

However, with the team flying at the moment, he hasn’t quite been able to play as many games as he would have hoped.

He has still racked up 29 games in all competitions, with 17 starts, but that seemingly isn’t enough to convince the player that he wants to stay.

Nevertheless, he has managed three goals, but even more impressively, 11 assists this season.

Presumably, with Newcastle looking for forwards, whoever they sign is likely to replace Joelinton in the starting line-up, or at least play alongside him.

While Poulsen hasn’t shown the goalscoring pedigree many would have hoped for a new striker coming through the door, his 11 assists should excite the fans.

Joelinton has struggled to be effective in holding up the ball and bringing others into play, especially when playing in a 5-4-1 when he is regularly isolated. Poulsen’s strength and height would work wonders for that system, as well as his ability to bring others into play.
