Newcastle Head Back To France For Summer Shopping

French publication, L’Equipe (via FootballFanCast) have identified young winger, Kamaldeen Sulemana as a potential target for Eddie Howe as moves for Moussa Diaby and Jack Harrison bore no fruit.

Kamaldeen has been likened to Neymar by his former coach, Flemming Pedersen, who managed the forward during a successful spell in Denmark where he bagged 14 goals and eight assists in 43 appearances.

Now at Rennes, Kamaldeen racked up four goals and two assists last season, which may not look overly impressive, but when you factor in that they came from just 20 appearances (only 11 starts), that’s not a bad return at all, especially for a 20-year-old.

Should We Switch Attention To Kamaldeen Sulemana?

Who? Nah!

Yes. He has potential.

The Ghana international only joined Rennes last season for £17m and still has four years on his contract, however, it’s believed that the fee will be way less than that quoted for Moussa Diaby at around £30m, and wages are unlikely to be an issue either as his current deal sees him picking up £6000 per week.

It’s not known at the point if Newcastle are going to make a move for the youngster, but looking at his stats and given his young age, it seems like Kamaldeen would be an excellent addition. However, one thing to be wary of is that he did miss a lot of football last term due to a back injury, and that’s the type of injury that has a nasty habit of recurring.
