Matt Ritchie should be fit for tomorrow’s game against Huddersfield according to Rafa.
The winger withdrew from Scotland’s squad before their game against Hungary midweek and returned to Tyneside, prompting fears he wouldn’t be fit for the weekend.
Speaking at his news conference today, the manager delivered some good news on the 28 year old’s fitness. He is quoted by the Chronicle as saying:
‘Ritchie had a little problem but have done the tests and he is fine.’
Fans on Twitter were delighted with the injury boost:

Verdict:
Matt has been in excellent form in recent weeks, and it would have been a major setback if he wasn’t fit for tomorrow’s game. His goals against Man United and Southampton were both vital, and hopefully he can get another one when we face the Terriers.
Rafa also revealed that Islam Slimani will be in the squad for the match so it will be interesting to see how much the Algerian features at St James’ Park. The likelihood is he’ll probably start from the bench, but at least he is now fit.
