Newcastle United are potentially on the verge of making a shock move for an outcasted offer for Vincent Aboubakar from Porto.
According to reports from Correio da Manha (via Sport Witness), the 28-year-old striker three options on the table for him in Espanyol, Newcastle and Brondby, however, it is claimed that Barcelona is the destination most likely for the forward.
For those that don’t keep up with Portuguese football, this might sound like a really exciting proposition for the club, with the attacker boasting a fantastic goal record at the many clubs he has been at. For Porto, he has registered 58 goals in 122 games for the club, and also has a great record at other teams such as 19 in 38 at Besiktas and 17 in 38 at FC Lorient, though he is not enjoying that kind of success this season, or even the one before.

In the 17/18 season, the Cameroonian striker finished with an impressive 26 goals from 43 games – the kind of form that would be getting any United fan buzzing about the potential arrival of the player. Unfortunately, though, during the whole of last season, he could only muster eight league games due to a cruciate ligament injury, and since then, he hasn’t really been able to get back into the team’s first-team plans.
This season, he’s had just two league games and has been a regular absentee from the matchday squads, so he would hardly be arriving in the greatest of nick.
If the reports are true, this could go one of two ways. His goalscoring record speaks for itself, so he could find a change of scenery might do just the trick and he could hit some form. Alternatively, with chances hardly aplenty for the Newcastle forwards, he could find himself struggling even more as it doesn’t look as if he will be coming with loads of confidence.
