Newcastle Enter Race For Free Agent

|

Newcastle United have entered the race to sign free agent, Christian Eriksen along with Tottenham.

Brentford brought Eriksen back to the Premier League last season after he was released by Inter due to him not being able to play in Serie A thanks to a rule meaning that people with Implantable Cardioverter Defibrillators (ICD) are unable to play. Eriksen, of course, had a heart attack on the pitch during the Euros and had to be revived on the field. He has since been fitted with an ICD and declared fit to play.

I doubt there was a football fan in the world who wasn’t excited to see Eriksen back on the pitch when Brentford signed him in January, and the reception he got when he came off the bench for his debut against Newcastle was heartwarming to say the least, with both sets of fans applauding his arrival.

Now it seems, after proving he’s not lost his ability with this eleven appearances for Brentford, Newcastle and Tottenham are looking to bring him in. Some reports even suggest that Newcastle have already held positive talks with the Danish midfielder and one journalist even claiming that Eriksen is just waiting to sign on the dotted line.

It remains to be seen how accurate these reports are, but personally, I feel Eriksen would be a fantastic signing, especially on a free. I’ve long been an admirer of his and would love to see him turning out for Newcastle next year.
