Newcastle Cup Draw Revealed Somehow

The league cup has been renamed again to the Carabao cup or Caravan cup as I refer to but after tonight’s amateurish efforts in making a simple draw, it should be called Calamity cup.

Drawing a home team first and an away team second is not rocket science but throw in the mix of teams being seeded then the think tanks in charge just go to mush.

Even when a simple enough system of picking seeded sides against unseeded and a ball coloured red or white to determine whether a side is home or away just confused the ‘drawees’ further as they cocked it up.

Once halfway though and realising that the red ball that they had been saying was an away tie was in fact an indicator that it meant a home game then the shaking hands of John Salako and Alex McLeish became even more apparent.

Eventually though, normality took over and we got drawn out followed by a red ball home game indicator.

We were drawn against Notts Forest with last years controversy probably put behind us now but a game against Daryl Murphy’s new side at St James’ Park is more than winnable and a good one in our efforts for silverware.

The game is set to take place in less than two weeks and all the details should be clarified quite soon although with a Sunday game away at Huddersfield on the 20th August and West Ham at home the following Saturday, chances are that it’s a Wednesday night game.
