Newcastle could sign £6.3m rated former Sunderland player – report

|

Newcastle could be about to sign former Sunderland player Fabio Borini, according to reports in Italy.

Gazzetta dello Sport’s Nicolo Schira (via Football Italia) claims the forward is not wanted by new AC Milan manager Marco Giampaolo.

The striker initially joined the Rossoneri on loan from Sunderland but made a permanent switch last summer.

Schira adds Newcastle want the 28-year-old as a replacement for Ayoze Perez.

Yes, the same Perez that was the Magpies top scorer last season. It would be unlikely Borini would be able to supply many goals, surely? He has scored just eight goals in his two years in Milan. While his record at Sunderland was not great either, where he managed to score 17 in 93 games.

He can play all across the front line and Transfermarkt value him at £6.3million, the forward has two years remaining on his contract at the San Siro.

Schira also stated Newcastle were quick to make an inquiry but may face competition from Bordeaux. However, he also believes the French club may struggle to pay the former Italy international’s wages.

Considering that the Newcastle fans are already furious with the club, this might not be the right time to sign a player that used to play for the ‘enemy.’
