It may not be the experienced striker that we expected but Newcastle today announced the completion of Joselu.

The German born Spaniard joining us on an initial three year deal from Stoke.

Joselu is 27 years old and becomes the 6th senior inbound transfer this Summer on a fee reported by Sky to be around £5m.

Whilst the tying up of this deal sees the striking department bolstered, we do still have the feeling that we’re still light in a few positions with the goalkeeper spot still one of concern for me.

Id also like another central ball playing midfielder, another striker as well as a left back before id feel more comfortable in our battle ahead.

Speaking on the official NUFC website after the deal was completed, Joselu said:

I feel very happy because I have signed for a very big club. I’m very happy to be part of this club and so excited.

I’m looking forward to getting to know my teammates, the city, the training ground, the stadium and all the supporters. I’m very happy to be here.

Manager Rafa Benítez revealed that he had been tracking Joselu for years and hinted that he hadn’t reached the potential that he threatened to exceed by stating:

We have known Joselu since his days at the Real Madrid academy and we know that he has the potential to do well for us.

Obviously he has experience of English football and the Premier League and that was another thing we took into consideration. We think if we can exploit his full potential he will be a good signing for us.
