Newcastle ace has done enough to excite fans ahead of next season despite setback – opinion

|

Miguel Almiron is set to miss the rest of the season after suffering a hamstring injury during our win over Southampton, with the Magpies confirming the news on Wednesday morning.

It’s a significant setback for the player, as it will prevent him from being able to finish the season on a high, but at least the Magpies have been able to secure Premier League football ahead of next season.

And to make matters better, there’s no denying the sentiment that Almiron has done enough to show fans what he’s about. Since moving to the club in January, the Paraguayan has been a core part of our team, and he’s offered a lot of what we expected of him.

He’s a willing runner that’s always eager to get forward, and with so much technical ability, he’s able to make magic going forward that few other players at Newcastle can.

Fortunately for us, he’ll only get better, too. Coming from the MLS to the Premier League, especially for Newcastle, would have been like enduring a baptism of fire, but he’s now got an introduction to the league, and next season he’ll come back more ready than ever.

It’s frustrating that he won’t be around to finish the season and help us fire our way up the table, but there’s no point risking him during games that are effectively meaningless for the Magpies.

He’s done the job that he was tasked with by helping keep us up, and now it’s all about preparing for next season. Based on what we’ve seen so far, we’re very excited to see how far he can go.
