One of bonus aspects of dropping into the Championship is the chance to hopefully see a few of our young guns come through. Back in the early 90s the crop of Robbie Elliott, Stevie Watson, Steve Howey and Lee Clark came through to become established Premier League players.

The hope is that a few of the much vaunted youngsters can come through and be blooded, which is where we pick up the baton. Over the next few weeks we`ll be looking at a few of the players who can reasonably expect to get some pitch time next season, starting with Haris Vuckic.

Haris was signed from Slovenian side NK Dom?ale, having played 4 times and scored 1 for the first team. Following rumours of a trial at AC Milan we ended up signing him for a paltry £50k on a three and a half year deal. The key to us picking up on him were his appearances at the European Under 17s Championship where he scored 3 goals in 3 games.

Haris made his first appearance for the reserve team in February when he came off the bench to score the winning goal against Blackburn, curling a left footed shot into the bottom corner from 20 yards. He scored his first goal for the U18 team in his league debut in a 4-2 away win at Derby. So far he has 2 in 4 for the reserves and 2 in 8 for the Academy side.

His latest exploits came in the recent tournament in Bosnia where he scored 5 in 3 and won player and top scorer of the competition. Overall we`ll be expecting to see early consolidation in the pre season games and reserves with hopefully an early Carling Cup run out.
