More Thoughts of NUFC

For the briefest of moments when i read Ashley had sold a good portion of his stake in Sports Direct, my mind began creating scenarios.. ‘perhaps he’ll invest it into the team, or will he buy Rangers, or maybe he’ll sell our club as well’..

Then reality set in and I remembered just who we are dealing with.

The sale of his shares was more of a fuck you to the shareholders and board after they blocked his bonus a few weeks ago, nothing more. The share price has tumbled since, he’ll most likely buy back a bigger stake at a lower price when the time is right.

As for Rangers, i just can’t see him getting involved as an owner.. the time to do that would have been when they were demoted and up shit creek. His interest in Rangers is to have enough of a stake so that he can force his tacky merchandise to be sold by the club, nothing more.

So where does that leave NUFC? Nothing has changed, or will for the foreseeable future. Minimal investment and we’ll flounder in or around mid table for the next decade. Giving his cheap tacky company all the advertising they need in front of the tv cameras.

Yes we’ll probably sign one or two players for around 5 million this summer and so on and take on another few loan signings, and because of how poor the league is Pardew will somehow manage to scrape enough points together in the first part of the season so that this time next year we’ll be in exactly the same position with the same bollocks excuse for a team dolling out performances like we’ve grown accustom to.

And this will happen year after year for as long as Pardew is here, i’d be very surprised if he ever gets sacked. He’s doing exactly what is asked of him.

The reason we got 5th a few years ago was probably more down to Ashley overestimating how difficult the league was going to be. He sanctioned some decent signings that summer, but was probably asking himself did he really need to do all that to get a top 10 finish, the answer was no obviously.

I’m not sure how much longer I can keep watching all of this drag on.. it’s not the club I’ve grown up supporting, the soul has been stripped out and they’ve put it on sale with a Wonga logo on it for £19.99

Unfortunately due to spending restrictions at NUFC, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off.

I’m not trying to urge anyone to turn their back on the club but i’m curious, how many of you are on the brink?
