Get your passports out, Newcastle have announced two more pre-season friendlies set to take place in Austria against German opposition.
Friday 15th July will see Newcastle take on 1860 Munich at SaalfeldenArena Bürgerau with kick off at 6pm local time. 1860 Munich are former champions of Germany who were runners-up in the European Cup Winners’ Cup in 1964/65, but currently play in the third tier of German football. The two sides met in the Intertoto Cup in 2001, with Newcastle winning 6-3 on aggregate over two legs.
🇦🇹 #NUFC will face two German opponents in Austria next month as part of their preparations for the upcoming 2022/23 Premier League campaign.

The second Austrian fixture will take place at the Kufstein Arena against Mainz 05 who finished eighth in the Bundesliga (eighth seems to be a theme with our friendlies). The last time the two clubs met was in the pre-season of 2017 were Newcastle were defeated 2-1.
The Magpies will also play a behind closed doors friendly against Mike Williamson’s Gateshead at Newcastle’s Benton training ground.
The club have also confirmed that tickets for the home friendly against Athletic Club on Saturday 30th July (kick off at 3pm) will go on sale on Tuesday 5th July.
