Newcastle’s first-half domination came to nothing as they failed to test the goalkeeper with anything he couldn’t stick ‘his hat on’.
Moore: ‘We came in at half time and we just could not believe we were 2-0 down. We had loads of possession in the first half but we didn’t really do anything with it.
‘That was the most disappointing thing because over the 90 minutes we didn’t create chances. We were the better team after the early goal but Aston Villa got the three points so it counts for nothing.
‘It was one of those games when you come away from home and you need to be on top of your game. You need to work hard to get a result away from home. We just got off to a terrible start and lost an early goal.
‘A team can have a lot more possession than the other team but we did not get into areas that were going to hurt the opposition.’
