Miggy Scores Two As Fans Speak

|

Newcastle midfielder Miguel Almiron bagged a brace on international duty as he put in a Man of the Match performance in a 2-2 draw against South Korea on Friday. The 28-year-old outpaced the Korean defence when he latched on to a through ball to score the opener on 23 minutes. Adding a second after half-time with a curling left-foot effort into the far corner.

The brace comes at a time when Newcastle fans were asked in our recent poll whether we should give Almiron another shot next season with a full pre-season under Eddie Howe, or whether we should cash in on the Paraguayan.

The poll results showed that almost three-quarters of fans were in favour of hanging on to Miggy.

The trend continued in the comments on facebook with a similar ratio of those in favour of keeping him, many people citing his outstanding work-rate as reason enough to keep hum around, with some noting an upturn in form as he adapts to Eddie Howe’s way of playing.

Almiron’s agent, Daniel Campos spoke out today saying that Almiron is going nowhere: “He is at the best club in the world. He is happy with prominence; I don’t see any possibility of change now,” Campos told Versus Radio (via The Chronicle). “They are going to change everything, structure, youth, women’s soccer, everything is going to change.”
