Newcastle United capitulated at Old Trafford yesterday. What else can I say? We were two up within ten minutes; we could have been three up after 20. Then what happened? Oh yes, Jose takes off Marcus Rashford, brings on Alexis Sanchez and low and behold, bangs in the winner on the stroke of full time.

I am not bitter, just mentally exhausted. Our situation is dire; our club is in decline. It’s just a shame the rest of the Newcastle United squad couldn’t show as much determination/passion as our Jonjo Shelvey.

I mean, when you see images like this one those of us who have a ‘heart’ has to feel some sympathy – surely?

Our six-foot midfielder played out of his skin – I don’t think he could have given more. He laid on an assist; he could have scored. What more could he have done?

If you have one, who would you pick as your Man of the Match?

Now we find ourselves in a two-week international break. And I for one need time to reflect.
