Joelinton is on the brink of joining Newcastle, according to Kicker.
Contrary to their earlier report, in which they had suggested the deal was not even close to happening, they now believe the transfer is at an advanced stage.
They claim the forward was left out of Hoffenheim’s pre-season friendly against Jahn Regensburg because of ‘negotiations with Newcastle.’
The German outlet state the Brazilian was pulled from their training camp, and the fee will be €40million (£36.12million).
The depressing defeat to Wolves in the Premier League Asia Trophy demonstrated how far behind the team really is. Being the only team in the division yet to sign a player, their performance on the pitch matched the crazy circus they have had off the field so far this summer.
Despite the large price-tag some of the fanbase is not convinced Joelinton will be a good signing. After selling Ayoze Perez, Joselu and failing to sign Salomon Rondon, some supporters do not believe he is good enough.
However, the 22-year-old is splitting opinion amongst the fans, with many thinking he could become a great player for the club.
Some Newcastle fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on whether seeing the Brazilian in a black and white shirt next season would be a good thing or not…

The more I’ve looked at this situation the more i think it could work but we definitely need 2 more forwards a dm, to full/wing backs to have a fighting chance. If joelinton hits the ground running we could see say 13 goals from him, if you compare to Richarlson.

One more decent attacker and a few coaching lessons for Bruce and we might have a canny side.

Personally think he looked good on the admittedly few occasions I saw him.
Not sure he’s going to get the goals on his own though. Will be interesting with Almiron.
That said, if he’s good he’ll be gone next year ????????♂️
