Once of the Toon’s bright young prospects Kazenga LuaLua hopes that he was able to catch Kevin Keegan’s eye after he watched him score a spectacular goal in the Northumberland Senior Cup win this week: ‘It was a really important time in the game to score. Everybody in the dressing room is just really happy that we’ve won the trophy,’ LuaLua told the Chronicle. ‘Sads told me to keep working hard and show what I can do on the pitch.

‘That way the manager can see you from the stands and see what you are about. All I need to do is keep working hard.’

Keegan was watching from the stands so he would’ve been impressed, as was Toon coach Adam Sadler who said: ‘He can score from anywhere, but as soon as that one left his foot I knew it was only going to one place.

‘Make no mistake, it was the goal of the season.’

LuaLua has already featured as a substitute for the first team but does he have what it takes to make it as a first team regular?
