Newcastle fans may not have got the result they wanted on Wednesday night as they fell to Leicester City on penalties, but the Magpies did have some positives to take away, one of which was the performance of Yoshinori Muto.
“I’m happy to score, but the team couldn’t win the game so I’m not satisfied.”@yoshimuto18 spoke to NUFC TV after tonight’s @Carabao_Cup penalty shoot-out defeat, following a 1-1 draw against @LCFC.

The Japanese international started the game and had enough of an impact, looking bright as the club’s lone forward. He bagged the Geordies’ equaliser in the second half, cancelling out James Maddison first-half opener, and even went on to score in the shootout.
Whilst ultimately Newcastle were knocked out of the competition at the first hurdle, the fans were very pleased with their fringe man, and some are keen to see him given a chance in the Premier League alongside new signing Joelinton.
You can read the Magpies’ verdict on Muto’s display here:
Although we haven’t seen the best of him I really do like muto, such a nice and humble person what a man

Is it not time to give this lad a chance with 2 up top. Old school football instead of this five at the back malarkey with no creativity and fullbacks that can’t beat the first man with a decent ball in? Pointless having a target man if you don’t have the service.

The Magpies were obviously pleased with Muto and are hoping the Japanese international can play more games moving forward.
