Rafa Benitez is a great believer in facts as he proved many years ago in his infamous press conference rant against Alex Ferguson when Fergie was Man United boss.

Rafa spoke out in 2009, when his Liverpool side who were top of the table and battling Man Utd, as he was the victim of mind games.

Basically Rafa felt he was justified in stating all the facts of the time and what he thought was wrongly coming over in the press or by the Man Utd camp.

The same mind games are apparent here at Newcastle now.

With many months advance warning of needing new players in, we’re coming to the end of the January transfer window with yet another lack of a spend. That is a fact.

Needing a minimum of three players to arm Rafa with enough to keep him happy in the relegation battle, we are only linked with various strikers and little else in the other positions that need work. That is also a fact.

Also a fact is the loan signing of Chelsea’s Kenedy which is a positive move to an extent for a player that is versatile on the left but there is no option to buy him at the end of the loan.

A player that unless we progress in the FA Cup, will only have the chance to feature in thirteen games in total. This fact is forgotten about with day two of a big advertising campaign on the official Newcastle website of him arriving and his first training session.

Rafa will know for a fact that he is being messed around by Mike Ashley again and if there is the usual gamble made in the transfer window then we’ll be odds on for relegation run ins for the rest of the season. Fact.

Money spent so far: 0 (nothing). Fact
