Sven Botman, the 22-year-old enigmatic Dutch defender who has sparked interest from a number of clubs including Newcastle United, continues to be linked to the Northeast club reports 90 Mins.
“Those clubs are interested, yes,” he said.
Asked if he has played his last game for Lille, the Dutchman said: “I don’t know, but I think so. I intend to take a step.”
“Talks are underway now. I won’t go into all of that, but it’s going well. I do hope that the transfer for the new season is completed. Preferably also for the pre-season, yes.”
Eddie Howe would love to secure Botman after chasing him for so long. The Newcastle United Manager has been interested in the Dutch defender ever since his appointment when the takeover went through and is ready to make a significant push to secure him this summer.
No doubt if, or when he does secure him he will send the toon army into raptures, this will also signal the intent from the PIF backed consortium that Newcastle are finally ready to mix it with the “Big Boys“
