Some Newcastle United fans have been reacting on social media, after Florian Lejeune shared his hope in the club regaining the form we displayed earlier in the season following a substantial blip in recent weeks.

After a shaky start to life in the Premier League under Steve Bruce with two wins in ten games, the club went on to take five wins in eight matches between November 1 and Christmas Day.

But since beating Crystal Palace 1-0 at St. James’ Park on December 21, Bruce’s men have been beaten at Manchester United and at home to Everton and Leicester City, while drawing 1-1 with League One side AFC Rochdale in the FA Cup.

Three league defeats on the bounce has seen the Toon fall from ninth place in the standings and two points shy of sixth-place, to 13th and face a five-point deficit to sixth-placed Tottenham Hotspur heading into the weekend’s meeting with Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Putting a stop to the rot on Saturday afternoon at Molineux will go a long way in kick-starting our 2020, and Lejeune is eager to get the club moving back in the right direction after last weekend’s loss to Leicester.

Does Lejeune start vs Wolves?

Yes

No

“It’s all about doing our very best on every occasion,” the 28-year-old told NUFC.co.uk. “Things can change and we know the Premier League is a complicated league to be a part of. You get good teams that are down at the bottom, which can be a surprise, and then teams that aren’t expected near the top.

“We had a good run, but are suffering a little bit with our form more recently with results going against us. It’s all about now pushing in the right direction and doing our very best to climb back up the league.”

Here are some of the messages shared as fans reacted to Lejeune’s comments…

In other Newcastle United news, a £1.8m-rated Toon man is keen to discuss his future at St. James’ Park amid vast interest in his signature.
