Confirmation came today of the last game that Newcastle will play ahead of the new football season.

The club announcing the annual home friendly that usually gets played at the end of pre-season at St James’ Park in the week prior to kick off.

The game is against Italian side Verona who are in a similar state to us in just being promoted to the top division, a side that is managed by a former coach here Fabio Pecchia who only left last Summer.

The game against the Italians is on Sunday August 6th with a 3 o clock kick off and will give the chance for people to see what sort of squad we have ahead of the season opener against Spurs the following weekend.

With maybe one more game to be announced and probably to be played in the week after the Hearts game, this is how our pre-season looks at present:

Friday, 14th July
Hearts v Newcastle (7:45pm kick off)

Saturday, 22nd July
Preston North End v Newcastle (3pm kick off)

Wed 26th July
Bradford City v Newcastle (7:30pm kick off)

Wed 2nd August
VfL Wolfsburg v Newcastle (3pm kick off)

Sunday 6th August
Newcastle v Verona (3pm kick off)
