Jamaal Lascelles has predicted we have more than enough to survive the drop this season if you believe The Daily Express

The comments were made as the likes of Lascelles, Rafa Benitez and co were at The North East Football Writers Awards Night in Durham.

Speaking at the event at Ramside Hall, Lascelles was quoted in the paper as saying:

We wish we were in a better position than we are but there are still ten games left and the way we are playing I think we are going to be more than safe.

Everyone is really confident with each other and with a manager like this behind us that brings even more confidence.

Lascelles who jointly won the player of the year award with Matt Ritchie has every right to be confident, such has been the improvement in his game along with him taking to the captaincy of the football club like a duck to water.

It’s no surprise that with Lascelles in the team that we’ve fared much better as we only collected one point out of the nine games he missed earlier this season and if the national media pick up on these little stats then it will have the call for their media darlings clubs clambering for his signature that bit more.

Best not mention the stat about only conceding two in a game at most when he’s in the side although with Liverpool at Anfield next, that stat may not last too much longer anyway.
