Newcastle headed off for a week in Ireland without a few of the large squad.

Arguably the biggest name left out of those that have gone is Tim Krul and with that, it must make his Newcastle future uncertain.

The talk in the papers over the Summer has been one of Rafa Benitez looking at an experienced goalkeeper with the likes of Joe Hart and Pepe Reina continually linked. Krul being left on Tyneside seems to add credence to that.

One explanation could be that the club thinks he needs more time to work on fitness at home but surely if he had a future, his fitness could be improved as well as him getting involved with team building exercises in Ireland. so I would rule that reason out.

Since Krul’s injury a couple of years back coming on the back of other bad injuries, he hasn’t hit the form he had and it would be a shame if his Newcastle career seemed to end on that note with his future seemingly in limbo with his market value dropping considerably although another loan move cant be ruled out at this point.

Krul made his debut for us in the UEFA Cup against Palermo in 2006 aged 18 and provided a man of the match performance in keeping a clean sheet in a 1-0 away win but in the years that have followed, injuries have limited him to 185 appearances overall.
