Newcastle keeper Tim Krul hasn’t managed an appearance at Ajax – since heading to the Dutch club on a season-long loan deal last season – but this hasn’t prevented potential interest from Chelsea according to the Guardian, via Chronicle Live.

Chelsea are preparing to offload Asmir Begovic – wanted by Bournemouth according to these reports – but before they do they want to bring in a back up keeper for Thibaut Courtois and this could be Krul.

It is claimed Krul is on the list of potential options Chelsea boss Antonio Conte could turn to with the Dutch international having his loan spell with Ajax cut short in order to join the Premier League leaders on a temporary basis.

The problem with such a scenario would mean the 28 year old wouldn’t be any more likely to secure first team football at Stamford Bridge than he is Ajax so if Krul was to have his return to the Eredivisie cut short an alternative loan where he would feature had to be explored surely?

As for an arrival it is now being reported 24 year old Swansea winger Mo Barrow is seen as a player of interest to Rafa Benitez.

Sky Sports has said a potential loan deal is being explored according to Sky sources BUT it wouldn’t mean an interest in Andros Townsend was dropped.

Townsend could – if not would – still arrive on loan with a view to a permanent return to St James’ Park in the summer.
