Newcastle disappointingly bowed out of the Carabao Cup on penalties after an impressive display saw them hold Leicester City to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday night, and whilst the performance was promising the result wasn’t.
Jamie Vardy finds the corner of the net. Leicester City win 4-2 on penalties and go through to the third round of the @Carabao_Cup.

After the game, the fans were left gutted as some of them seemingly had their hearts set on going on a cup run. It wasn’t to be this time, though, although Steve Bruce and co will always have the FA Cup to have another crack at.
In the end, it was the lottery of penalties, and after giving a good account of themselves the Geordies could only convert two of theirs whilst Leicester put away four, sending the Foxes into the third round where they’ll face Luton Town.
You can read the Geordies’ thoughts on their cup exit here:
Bruce “I’m here to win a trophy”. Out at the first round (for us) of league cup. Aye good one. Club is a joke and disgrace. #AshleyOut

The Magpies are obviously gutted to be out of the cup, but they gave a good account of themselves and can still have a go at the FA Cup when it comes round to it.
