It’s Like The Night Before Black Friday

|

Clubs up and down the land are metaphorically queuing outside the stores for the midnight launch of the Transfer Window with some clubs picking up their pre-orders, such as Newcastle with Matt Targett, and others there to snoop around for bargains.

Newcastle has been shopping online for a few weeks now and has had a few card transactions declined, but will be hoping that, come tomorrow when the trades are available, their new credit rating will kick in and they’ll be able to flex their platinum card like never before.

Dan Ashworth has been hard at work on transfers this week and as such, Eddie Howe is expecting some positive phone calls as he spends some much earned time with his family.

Quite who Newcastle will manage to acquire remains to be seen and if I may go back to the Black Friday metaphor, we can expect scraps in the aisles with the likes of Aston Villa and Arsenal as a link with those clubs is never far behind one with Newcastle.

One thing is for sure though, this is a very exciting time to be a Newcastle fan. For so long we have been starved for this level of excitement in a transfer window, especially at the beginning, with the Ashley regime so often waiting until the last minute to do their business, if any. We got a taste of the good life in January with some strong spending on some quality additions, but you can bet that this window will be even more exciting with Dan Ashworth finally in place and focusing on recruitment first and foremost before getting stuck into other aspects of the club.

The Magpies have already been linked to some top talent, but that’s just the pre-game. The real fun starts tomorrow. Bring it on!
