A few Newcastle United fans have been lauding their highlight moments from the season so far, by sharing which has been their favourite goal scored by a Toon player.

We have not been blessed with a potent offence like Liverpool’s or Manchester City’s, with the Premier League title-rivals boasting two of the top three attacks in the division, but there have been some sensational strikes by those in Black and White.

Part of our limited numbers in front of goal has stemmed from summer signings Joelinton and Allan Saint-Maximin, plus former club-record arrival Miguel Almiron, only managing one goal between them after 12 games.

Altogether, our squad have combined for 11 goals, which ranks as the joint-third-worst in the top-flight with only Crystal Palace and Watford penning fewer as play halted for the November international break.

Ciaran Clark and Jonjo Shelvey lead our goalscoring charts with two each, while DeAndre Yedlin, Fabian Schar, Federico Fernandez, Jamaal Lascelles, Jetro Willems and Matty Longstaff have fired home once.

Willems’ rocket away to Liverpool was, for some, the best goal scored by a Newcastle player thus far this season, when the Eintracht Frankfurt loanee smashed home to open the scoring.

Others have tipped Longstaff’s match-winning hit against Manchester United in his Premier League debut as their goal of the season so far, with honourable mentions for the build-up play for Joelinton’s at Tottenham Hotspur.

Where do we need to improve in January?
