The next Newcastle manager could be Steve Bruce, according to The Independent.
They claim the 58-year-old Sheffield Wednesday boss is one of a series of potential candidates to have been identified as a replacement for Rafa Benitez.
Bruce, who was only installed as Owls boss in February, was linked to the Newcastle job back in 2015. And of course, he is a former manager of the enemy.
Newcastle supporters took to social media and judging by many of their reactions they are not happy with the possibility of him taking the reins at St James’ Park.
He appears to be improving as a manager, according to Transfermarkt he has achieved 1.61 points per game while in his current job, and that was 1.60 in his previous role at Aston Villa.
Before that, he achieved 1.47 points per game while at Hull and 1.16 as Sunderland boss. However, many of the Newcastle fans are not convinced he is the right person for the job.
Marc Duffy, a former Newcastle correspondent for ESPN posted a question on Twitter that many fans responded to. His Tweet said: “Going from Rafa to Steve Bruce would be like going from………..?
The supporters were quick to make their comparisons, one stated it would be like going from ‘Andy Cole to Paul Kitson’ up-front.
