Former Newcastle United fullback Daryl Janmaat was speaking at a recent fans forum for current club Watford, and when discussing Newcastle United fans he could’ve certainly chosen his words better and I mean in more ways than one.
As reported by the Shields Gazette the 29-year-old was trying to describe the difference between his current fans and the St James’ Park faithful whatever he may have meant to say, he basically accused fans of moaning too much about things.
“It’s massively different to my former club. Newcastle fans expect too much and can moan quickly.”
Maybe I’m straining too far in terms of giving him the benefit of the doubt, but just as much as he’s taken a dig at Newcastle, by default, hasn’t he accused his current fans of having no expectations, hopes, ambitions or standards at the same time?
Or put another way, expect turgid excrement and accept it.
In my view, it takes a special talent to insult two fanbases in such few words – maybe we’ve finally found Janmaat’s strength.
Daryl Janmaat: “Newcastle fans expect too much and can moan very quickly.”
We excepted you and your teammates, all on tens of thousands of pounds a week with big reputations, not to get relegated, Daryl.
You absolute pleb. #NUFC

Daryl’s biggest contribution happened when we were already relegated 2 years ago… #facts

I totally forgot about him.

I used to expect that janmaat and sissoko would spend more time trying to win the game and giving everything they had rather than moaning and whinging at each other and walking round in the huff …

That’s why he’s currently coasting along accepting his wage, which is probably more than he should be on ability-wise. Might be wrong but he hasn’t done much since signing for Watford. No disrespect to them either but they’re just happy to remain in PL year in year out
