Former Lyon manager Bruno Genesio is about to become Newcastle manager, according to Le Progres.
They also claim the Tyneside club is on the verge of being sold to a group from the United Arab Emirates.
The Newcastle fans were quick to react on social media to the report, with many of them stating that they were not falling for it this time.
The article claims Genesio is in Newcastle, he has a good relationship with the buyers and will sign a four-year deal.
The Magpies fans were right to feel cautious about the story, as Damian Spellman, the North-East sports reporter for the Press Association, warned the Toon Army not to be sucked in by the news.
In a Tweet, he said: “I’ve been told not to get carried away by the speculation surrounding Bruno Genesio. Just had it knocked down by a second source.”
The claims made by Le Progres contradict what many British outlets have been reporting, as many of them have insisted that Steve Bruce’s appointment is imminent.
Some of the Newcastle supporters took to Twitter to voice their opinions, with a lot of them unwilling to trust the story.
One stated he ‘can’t believe people are actually believing this’ while another added it is ‘nonsense.’

I think nobody should buy into this. Look at the facts, sports direct has taken a financial hit, season ticket numbers have plummeted and like clockwork transfer links and takeover rumours start doing the rounds again.

Yeah, it also says we’re being taken over and the new owners want him. Nonsense.
