“What do you want him to do” – A lot of Newcastle United fans are behind Jamaal Lascelles after a video emerged of him having a confrontation with some fans outside the King Power.
As the Newcastle players piled onto the team bus, Lascelles was brave enough to discuss the pathetic performance with a few supporters.
One fan mentioned Rafael Benitez, and the 25-year-old explained that he couldn’t do anything about that as Rafa is gone.
One fan also asked Lascelles to pay for his taxi – which is not on.
Yes, he earns a lot of money, £40,000 per week, but he is brave enough and honest enough to front up to both the media and the fans and should not be subjected to that sort of nonsense from a Newcastle fan.
Lascelles is always very honest, and he is leading a meeting with all of the players this week as the Toon look to find the winning formula.
As the captain of Newcastle Lascelles has represented the club brilliantly and the anger from some fans should be directed at Steve Bruce and Mike Ashley, not Lascelles who has shown nothing but 100% commitment to the people of Tyneside.
See the best of the reaction below.
“Some of the fans were saying to Lascelles that it [5-0 loss] wouldn’t have happened under Rafa and he just kept saying: ‘What do you want me to do? Rafa’s gone.’ #nufc

Well he’s right, it ain’t his fault that Rafa left. Definitely isn’t his fault that they chose to replace him with Bruce either

What do you want him to do? He can’t magically make Rafa reappear. He was clear in his desire to want Rafa to stay. Not his fault the idiots that run the club let him walk and replaced him with a clueless manager in Bruce

Well he’s not wrong?

@Lascelles16 was one of the only players who looked like he wanted to do anything Sunday. Yes he should have closed down on the first goal, but hurling abuse at him isn’t going to help. Asking him for money is just pathetic too. #nufc

These Toon fans are in full support of Lascelles.
We all need to get past the fact Rafa has gone ????

Get over it, Rafa is long gone. Big money offer from China and he jumped ship. Can’t blame him, but it is the reality of it.

Other Newcastle supporters want to forget about Rafa.
