No player is indispensable and under Rafa Benitez’s reign, this is proving more and more apparent as he’s shown he isn’t afraid to rotate the side.

However, with Rafa’s popularity here on Tyneside, a shift in power has seemingly given him the edge in deciding player’s futures so the usual paper rumour has even less vigour than before.

Jonjo Shelvey is the latest name being banded around the media to be next to leave with The Express even committing an exclusive story to the bandwagon noise.

Whilst I dont doubt that Rafa has his concerns over Shelvey, there is no way he will sell him to a rival side in West Ham and not for the £12m figure being speculated. It’s an easy click bait story to create.

There’s also the small matter of getting a replacement in first because Benitez will have cottoned on to the way that Mike Ashley works here in the false promises of being allowed money to spend after a player is sold.

It’s happened far too many times before here and happened in the last week of the Summer with the wage bill being trimmed and the ‘promised’ influx never materialising.

I just cant see Shelvey going until the Summer at the very least unless the figure was £20m and Rafa could use it for Dennis Praet and that wont happen.
