Regardless of where we end up for the 2018/19 campaign, I`d like to see us give young Adam Armstrong a chance to shine up front.
I, like doubtless many of you, still firmly believe that we`ll be staying up and will play in the Premier League next year.
For sure, there`s three sides worse than us and a shipload of managers in this league not as good as ours so that, we all hope, should be enough.
Whether we`re staying put or dropping down for next year, though, it`s time Rafa gives ‘Arma` more minutes on the pitch in Black and White.
I absolutely understand why the boss decided to let him go on loan for this season – it surely would have been to soon for him to play in the Premier League – but he`s really starting to look a good talent.
Of course, it`s in League One where he is right now but it`s at the sharp end and, under all the pressure that entails, he`s produced a superb set of performances for Blackburn as they continue their challenge.
He`s surely going to be attracting interest in the next window and with him looking both lethal and versatile across the front-line, it`d be a shame to not give him a proper run here.
Rafa won`t risk young players unless they are absolutely exceptional, that much is clear, but we`re in need of some extra spark and fresh impetus up top when you look at our current options.
Joselu is limited, Dwight Gayle inconsistent and Islam Slimani unfit – hardly a devastating trio unfortunately.
And, whilst I`d also want the club to sign a proven forward or get Mitro back into the fold properly in the summer, I`d certainly give Armstrong the chance to really show if he`s good enough.
Would you keep Armstrong for next season? Let me know in the poll!
