The Championship play-offs start today and with it an interest in an alleged transfer target.

The Fulham against Reading game will be one where eyes are cast towards Fulham’s captain Tom Cairney with a growing list of suitors linked in the daily press.

We have been seriously linked with signing Cairney since January when The Mirror, one of Newcastle’s media partners, wrote of our interest and rated him as a £10m target.

Recently, along with others regurgitating the news, The Mirror has said that the price will be doubled on the back of Cairney’s elevation into most people’s team of the season.

A failure for Fulham to gain promotion through the play-offs will surely see Cairney sold and if so, the asking price will be cheaper no doubt.

With the transfer window not opening officially until July 1st though, we’ve got many more weeks of speculation ahead.
